British Library
Introducing an extension of the British Library: a major player in London’s Knowledge Quarter
Expanding our involvement in innovation projects across the capital — we’re working with the British Library to extend their current building across a new 2.8 acre site. The project will unlock 100,000 sq ft of new space for the organisation, inspiring wider learning and deeper connections across London’s knowledge cluster.
What’s coming
Making space for learning
Collaborating with architects Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, we’re leading the development of a 2.8 acre site to the north of the British Library’s existing Grade I Listed building. The project will create an additional 100,000 sq ft of new space for the British Library to expand their learning, exhibitions and public spaces, including a new northern entrance and a bespoke headquarters for the Alan Turing Institute, the national centre for data science research.
Connecting minds
The extension will also include new commercial space for businesses looking to be based at the heart of London’s Knowledge Quarter. Located next to the Francis Crick Institute and close to other knowledge-based companies, universities and research organisations – plus the fantastic amenities and transport links at King’s Cross and St Pancras – the development occupies a unique position.
Creating lasting change
Here’s what Neelham Patel, CEO of MedCity, has to say about the coming development: “We believe the Library expansion brings with it the opportunity to see meaningful and lasting changes that will be beneficial to the whole community.”
