Science & tech
It’s a mind-blowingly exciting time for science and technology, as new possibilities in AI, medicine, data science and other fields converge to enable previously unimaginable discoveries. Stanhope are behind several new innovation centres and districts being built to help scientists and technologists come together and shape the next century.
We’re seeing a surge in demand for greater proximity to universities, as with our White City Place development where smart teams can spin out of Imperial College London and join an ecosystem of companies and facilities and funding models. Oxford North will do this on a bigger scale: a million sq ft of labs and workspaces in an integrated district surrounding scientists with 26,000 sq ft of amenities to help them feel productive, connected, and close to the university.
Serendipity is the catalyst, helping scientists and technologists bump into each other and spark new connections as they go about their work and explore the edges of different practices. Environments like Oxford North have to provide a mixing bowl that feels lively, attracting and retaining talent. Our work at the British Library will be focused on this, as will our new development at Royal Street.
